Aussiescanners, formally “Rochedalescan”, has been running since late 2007, when it was formed as a local Queensland radio based site. It has grown from a few hundred members to over 1500 members.
Our mission is to provide free information and support for the hobby of scanning and radio, and with the help of our members and a great team, we can say that we are doing very well in that respect.

Police scanner app outrage
SMART PHONE apps are allowing Tasmanians to listen in on sensitive police radio communications.
The applications, which cost $2 and are also available for free, allow listenters to evesdrop as police discuss operational matters including the names and addresses of those involved in domestic disputes and the names of people with mental illnesses.

$600 million to fix Qld police radio system
Upgrading Queensland's police radio system to digital technology would cost around $600 million, the floods inquiry has heard.
Several police officers have complained to the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry they were heavily reliant on their personal mobile phones during January's crisis, because their radios didn't work.

Thieves strip lights from cop car
A POLICE car has been broken into, with thieves making off with items including a police radio, aerials and flashing lights.
Police said the marked Hilux dual cab utility was parked in the rear compound of City Toyota in Aberdeen St, Northbridge.
It is believed the items were stolen between 8.45pm last night and 7.15am this morning.

Doors close on police comms centre
The police communications centre for north-west Victoria has closed.
The Mildura D24 closure is part of a plan to integrate call taking and dispatch for all of regional Victoria's emergency services to a single, purpose-built centre at Ballarat.
Mildura D24 is the third of five to move to the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority centre and will allow eight police to go back into front-line policing.
